I´m Elaine, the girl behind the blog!

 

Growing up and living in a big city (Vienna, Austria) for most of my life, I slowly started feeling very burnt out by the hustle and bustle of city-life and decided I wanted to start living more intentionally.

​

That is when slow-life and cottagecore was on the rise and I resonated so much with the idea of living a more peaceful, intentional life. My Pinterest boards started to fill up with images of cozy little cottages in nature, books, gardens and just anything that resembles romanticizing life to the fullest.

​

Soon I decided that that´s the way I wanted to live. So, even though I lived in a tiny apartment together with my partner and our dog Harvey, in the middle of the big city, I started to romanticize every little detail of my life.

 

I started listening to the sounds of the world around me more and noticing the magic of the little things in life, like a single flower on the side of the road or a bird flying across my window. Looking for whimsy whichever way I could. I like to think that changing my view of the world made me into a better person and it has changed my life in so many ways...

A couple of years later, my partner and I decided to move to the Netherlands for a while to be closer to his family. We didn´t know what would expect us there.

All we knew is that it was time for a new beginning.

 

We lived in a small apartment at first and through a change of circumstances, we were able to move into a little cottage with a yard for our dog Harvey! My dream of living a slow life in a little cottage in the countryside became true and even though life is not devoid of challenges, I am living a much slower, more intentional and peaceful life than I ever have. I feel more inspired to create, listen to my body and do things that make me happy ^^ 

 

I created the blog WhimsicalValley in the hopes that my posts will inspire you to dream and look for the magic in your everyday life.
