5 Fun Ways to Romanticize Your Summer

Summer is long days spent outside, walks along the beach, early, dewy mornings, blooming flowers, birdsong, the smell of freshly cut grass, jumping into pools... Summer is a feeling. For most of us, it is a season evocing memories and a sense of nostalgia, which is what makes summer so special. Whether you live by the beach, in the countryside, or in the middle of a big city, here are five ways to romanticize your summer this year, to get the most out of this season!

1. Stargazing Picnics

Imagine lying on a blanket under the twinkling night sky, the sound of crickets chirping in the background, and the gentle rustle of leaves in the breeze. Pack a basket with your favorite snacks, a cold beverage like orange juice, or maybe some whine, a picnic blanket and a cozy throw. Find a quiet spot away from light pollution if you can, and simply gaze at the beautiful night sky. This would also be such a lovely summer date night idea to do together with your loved one! A little tip: Download a stargazing app to identify constellations and maybe even catch a shooting star! This is the perfect way to spend time outside when it´s cooler in the evening, especially during the warmest summer days! Oh, and don´t forget to bring mosquito spray!

2. Sunset Walks

There's something inherently romantic about taking a walk as the sun sets, painting the sky in hues of pink, orange, and gold. Summer sunsets are so beautiful and there to be enjoyed!

3. Countryside Bike Rides

This basically sums up my Summer-Inspo board on Pinterest ^^

Depending on where you live, try taking your bycicle to places instead of using your car, whenever you can! I am definitely guilty of driving everywhere by car since we got one, but something about riding my bike and feeling the breeze on my skin, makes me feel so much more present and free! Here in The Netherlands where I live, all you see in summer is people on bycicles and I truly believe that´s partly why the Dutch are said to be so happy!

4. Outdoor Movie Nights

Transform your backyard into an open-air cinema. Hang a white sheet on a wire, or set up a portable screen, gather some comfy seating options like bean bags, big pillows and blankets and string up some fairy lights for a little touch of whimsy ^^. Prepare some popcorn and cozy up!. Also, don´t forget mosquito spray! This is something I definitely want to try this summer! If you don´t have a yard, you can instead set up an indoor movie night with summery snacks and drinks! For that summer night feeling, I would recommend adding a little night sky projector. You can find those on Amazon and they´re sooo cute and super affordable!

5. Flower Field Frolics

What is summer without having main character moments like frolicing in a field full of flowers, or rolling down a hill?

Put on a cute dress, or something that makes you feel *romantical*, find a field and just let go for a little while.

Dance around, feel the summer breeze on your skin and allow yourself to be a child again for a little while!

Many flower fields might also allow you to pick your own bouquet, so you can take a piece of the magic back home with you!

Final Thoughts

Romanticizing summer is all about slowing down, living in the moment and savoring the simple pleasures. Whether you're with a loved one or enjoying your own company, these five activities can add a touch of whimsy and wonder to your summer. So, grab your sunhat, activate your sense of adventure, and make this summer one to remember! Oh, and don´t forget to put on sunscreen!

Sending lots of love and coziness your way x
