As someone who loves to live a slower-paced, cozy lifestyle, I'm so excited to share some of my tips on how you too can embrace the hygge lifestyle for fall! So, grab yourself a cozy cup of coffee or tea and your favorite comfy blanket and enjoy! ššš
1. Create a Cozy Home
Fall is all about slowing down. As temperatures are dropping and the days start getting shorter, most of us are spending more time at home again, which is the perfect time to make your home as cozy and inviting as possible!
A great way to make your home feel cozy is to add fairy lights and lamps that give off warm light, get a fake fireplace if you donĀ“t have a real one and add throw pillows and blankets wherever you can! You can find some more decor ideas for autumn in my previous blog post! Most importantly, create a space that makes YOU happy and excited to come home to!
Something that has been a game changer for me this fall was adding floating candles to the ceiling, like in the great hall from Harry Potter! I love re-watching the Harry Potter movies during fall, so having floating candles in my home makes me sooo happy every time I see them and adds such a magical, cozy touch to our living room!^^ You can find the candles on Amazon.
2. Notice the little things in life
One of the most important things in living a hygge lifestyle is to notice the little things in life and try living in the moment as much as possible. This is often easier said than done, but even just sometimes being aware of when you are rushing past each moment instead of savoring it, can be enough to eventually get into the habbit of slowing down and noticing the little things in life. Please give yourself grace if you feel that youĀ“re unable to live in the moment right now <3 There will come a time where itĀ“ll be easier for you to notice the little magical things in life again x
3. Create yearly traditions

Visit a pumpkin patch every october, watch the same movie again at a certain time of year, or make a signature dish every November! Have a board game night once a week during the colder months, or go to a cozy bookshop at the beginning of each month! There are so many little traditions you can start for you and your loved ones and they can make this season feel so much more special and magical! ^^
4. Try making new cozy drinks
Next to tea and coffee, there are so many more cozy drinks you can make yourself during autumn! I love the feeling of cozying up in a blanket infront of the fireplace, reading a book or watching a heartwarming movie and drinking a hot drink. ItĀ“s one of my favorite feelings in the world and one that makes me feel excited for the colder months every year. Last year I tried making homemade cider and it has quickly become a yearly tradition during the colder seasons. ItĀ“s super easy to make, but tastes like you would imagine "cozy" tastes like! ^^
HereĀ“s the recipe I use, so you can try it out for yourself:
What youĀ“ll need:
(make double for more than 3-4 people)
1 litre of apple juice (no added sugar)
1 orange
2-3 cinnamon sticks
a bit of ground nutmeg
Instructions:
Cut the orange into slices.
Add the apple juice to a pot and bring it to a simmer, then add the orange slices, cinnamon sticks and a little bit of ground nutmeg. Let it simmer for about 3-4 minutes, put a lid on the pot and let it sit for 10 minutes. If it cooled down too much, warm it up on the stove again before serving.
Since there are no added sugars, flavors, or preservatives, this is a much healthier alternative to most store bought ciders, but tastes sooo good! If you havenĀ“t yet, you wonĀ“t regret giving it a try!
5. Prioritize Self-Care
Self care can look like taking a bubble bath, getting your nails done, watching your favorite show, or taking yourself out on a solo date. But it can also look like: being kind to yourself and others, letting go of feeling like you always need to be productive, not giving in to perfectionism, nurturing friendships and relationships and sooo much more.
6. Practice Gratitude for what you already have
If you can, try to find at least three things a day to be grateful for. That could be anything from your morning coffee, to the roof over your head, or the food on your plate.
So many things we can quickly view as "ordinary" in our lives, really are the biggest blessings. You probably have a phone or a computer to read this blogpost on and use that same device to research anything youĀ“d like to know! Or what about being able to go to a grocery store and buy whatever food youĀ“d like to eat, instead of having to hunt, grow or gather your own!
I understand that there definitely are times when practicing gratitude is much harder than it sounds, but I encourage you to try and find the little bits of magic in your own life whenever you can and please give yourself grace and time when you canĀ“t x
Hygge is all about slowing down, embracing imperfection and finding beauty in daily life.
Wishing you the most hygge of cozy falls this season! ^^ ššš
